One elementary school in Belvidere is putting a different spin on learning a new language.
Seth Whitman Elementary School held an orientation for its new dual language program on Monday. The program is for kindergarten students and will feature classes taught in both English and Spanish. Half of the students in the classes will be native Spanish speakers and the other half native English speakers. Instructors will then teach the class in both languages, giving equal attention to both.
During the orientation parents got a chance to meet the teachers, tour the rooms, and learn more about the classes.
The program was approved by the Board of Education earlier this year. More information on the program can be found here.
