Homeless students in the Rockford area hope to have the chance for a fresh start to the school year thanks to generous donations.
The Salvation Army's Clothes for Kids back-to-school clothing drive began at Cherryvale Mall Friday. The drive is designed to give the 900 homeless students in District 205 new back-to-school outfits.
Anyone interested in donating can simply pick up a list of clothes needed and specific sizes from the bus in the mall's center court. Donors can then purchase those items, new, and bring them back to the bus to donate them to the drive.
The iconic Salvation Army red bucket will also be on site for any monetary donations. All money raised will go directly toward clothing needed.
The drive runs through August 19.
