Thefts from motor vehicles up in Rock County

The Rock County Sheriff's Office is warning residents of an increase in theft from motor vehicles.

Police say thefts have been on the rise since the beginning of July in the following areas:

  • 3700 block South Nelson Road
  • 9700 block South Nelson Road
  • 1400 block South Dickey Road
  • 8600 block West STH 81
  • 9000 block South Olson Road
  • 9700 block South Olson Road
  • 6500 block Plymouth Church Road
  • 3300 block North Polzin Road
  • 4700 block North Fox Road
  • 10000 block West Skinner Road
  • 14000 block West Skinner Road
  • 11000 block South CTH H
  • 11000 block South Merlet Road

Unlocked cars parked in driveways or garages are being targeted. At some residences, multiple vehicles were entered. Garage door openers located in vehicles parked in driveways have been used to gain entry to garages.

Items taken include electronics, credit cards, cash, purses, and personal identification. ATVs have also been taken from some residences. Most thefts have taken place between the late evening and early morning hours.
