Cabello appointed to 68th District seat

ROCKFORD -

Republicans pick the person they want to have fill Dave Winter's open seat in Springfield.

Winters retired from the from his 68th District House of Representatives seat.  His last day was July 31st.

The Winnebago County Republican Central Committee is appointing John Cabello.  He'll serve the remainder of Winter's term, which runs until January.

Cabello is running for the seat against Democrat Carl Wasco in November.  He has already signed his oath of office indicating he's accepted the appointment.
