Couple gets keys to new home built by Habitat for Humanity

The Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity celebrates the completion of its 95th house.

After two months of hard work, the non-profit organization turned over the keys to new homeowners

Michael and Jessica Whittie. The couple worked side-by-side with Habitat volunteers to build their home, contributing a total of 300 hours of labor. Now they'll pay off the house, which they bought for the cost of construction materials only, with the help of a 0% interest loan from Habitat.

Michael says, "It felt like we won the lottery. We always dreaming about getting our own home. And now we get it, so it's great."

The RAHFH plans to dedicate 5 more houses in the area.
