Rockford elementary schools host registration

The start of a new school year isn't for a couple more weeks, but local elementary schools were already buzzing with excitement today.

Beginning at 7:00 this morning,  parents lined up at area schools to get their students registered for the fall.
Some schools, like Lewis Lemon, are expecting an increase in students. In order to accommodate the larger than normal number of students, registration hours have been extended to 7:00 p.m. tonight.

"Other schools are probably doing the same things we are, just trying to look at numbers and make sure that we have enough teachers, enough allocations in place to handle the increase in students." Said Suzette Payne, Principal of Lewis Lemon Elementary

Middle and high school registration will take place August 14th from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and August 15th from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m..
