PRESS RELEASE:

Rockford, IL –  The City of Rockford will hold two public hearings to provide status of 2012 Community and Economic Development Program activities to interested citizens, groups and organizations and to inform the public of budget changes that will result in a substantial amendment to the 2012 plan.  The said public hearings will also provide this same audience with an opportunity to express their ideas and views on housing and community development needs as they relate to the City of Rockford's 2013 Consolidated Plan Annual Update.

The Consolidated Plan Annual Update satisfies the minimum statutory requirements for three federal formula programs: the Community Development Block Grant (DCBG), the HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) and the Emergency Shelter Grants Program (ESGP).

The public hearings will take place at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Patriot's Gateway Community Center, 615 S. Fifth Street and then again at 6:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Northwest Community Center, 1325 N. Johnston Avenue.

Both sessions will cover the same information.  Interested participants only need to attend one session.

The hearings will be accessible to persons with disabilities in compliance with federal laws upon notification of anticipated attendance.  Individuals with disabilities planning to attend and needing special accommodations should contact by letter or telephone, the Neighborhood Development Division, Community and Economic Development Department, 425 East State Street, Rockford, Illinois 61104, 815.987.5690, by August 13, 2012 to make notice of their anticipated attendance.
