Supporters of Rockford's Singer Mental Health Center again prepare to speak out against a plan to close the facility.
Singer remains on Illinois Governor Pat Quinn's budget chopping block. This afternoon a group of employees, local leaders and other supporters will testify at a public hearing of the state Health Facilities and Services Review Board.
Supporters of the facility say the closure would leave an estimated 850 patients with no where to go for the mental healthcare they need.
Governor Quinn's proposed budget is still being negotiated in Springfield. If passed Singer could be closed down as soon as October.
A news conference has been scheduled at 12:30 p.m. at the Coronado Performing Arts Center, just before the public hearing get started.
13 News will speak with supporters to find out what they hope to accomplish during today's hearing and bring you the full story tonight at 5:00 and 6:00.
