21-year-old Rockford man arrested for burglary, resisting arrest


Rockford Police have arrested a man they believe broke into several vehicles and a garage.

Officers arrested Michael E. Simpson around 5:30 a.m. August 3. Police had responded to 3307 California Road in regards to someone breaking into the home's garage. Simpson, who matched the witness' description was located a short time afterward and taken into custody.

Several items, including portable GPS units, were found on Simpson's person. An investigation found several vehicles in the area had been broken into.

Simpson faces the following charges:

  • Residential Burglary
  • Burglary to Vehicle (2 counts)
  • Resisting Police

Rockford Police are not officially releasing Simpson's photo due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.
