Oregon High School gets IHSA Team Academic Achievement Award

Athletes at Oregon High School aren't just stellar on the field, they also excel in the classroom.

The Illinois High School Association has awarded the high school the IHSA Team Academic Achievement Award for the cumulative team grade point average during the last school year. The boys track team led the teams with a cumulative average of 3.33. Girls track, softball, and baseball followed with averages of 3.26, 3.27, and 3.29, respectively.

"To have all four of our spring sports teams earn this award is quite an accomplishment," Athletic Director Mike Lawton said. "It speaks highly of our student-athletes and the support that they get from their families, coaches, and teachers. The fact that eleven of our sixteen varsity teams earned the award over the past year is really outstanding."

Winter sports also receiving the award were cheerleading, boys bowling, and girls basketball.
