Prisoners moved from Tamms on same day as union lawsuit

Posted: Updated:

Illinois officials move several dangerous criminals out of Tamms prison.

The transfers happened just as the union for state corrections workers filed a lawsuit to stop moving inmates. That is because they are part of Governor Pat Quinn's plan to close major prisons such as Tamms. The union wants the state to negotiate how moves like this will affect workers. Seven prisoners went to another maximum security jail in Pontiac. The other inmate went to one in Menard.
