2 arrested on cocaine charges in Rockford

ROCKFORD (WREX) -

Two Rockford residents have been arrested after trying to deliver cocaine in the parking lot of a business in the 3100 block of 11th Street.

The arrest took place on August 1 at 5:20 p.m. after a lengthy investigation by the Winnebago County Sheriff's Police Narcotic Unit. Antwon D. Smith, 32, and Stephanie A. Paniaqua, 34, were arrested. Smith attempted to flee and resisted officers during the arrest.

Smith faces the following charges:

  • Possession with intent to deliver 15 to 100 grams of cocaine
  • Resisting arrest
  • Aggravated battery to a police officer
  • Possession of cannabis/less than 2.5 grams
  • Criminal damage to government property (damage to an official vehicle)
  • Possession with intent to deliver one to 15 grams of cocaine

Paniaqua faces the following charges:

  • Possession with intent to deliver 15 to 100 grams of cocaine
  • Possession with intent to deliver one to 15 grams of cocaine
