A 55-year-old man has been sentenced to 40 years in jail for first degree murder after a 2009 stabbing.
On March 14, 2009, Rockford Police investigated a stabbing on North Longwood Street in Rockford. Upon their arrival to the scene, officers located Willie Harrison in the front doorway of the apartment with blood on his person.
Inside of the apartment, a large kitchen knife was found on top of the television, and Jermaine Rogers was found lying on the kitchen floor. Rogers was transported to SwedishAmerican Hospital where he was pronounced dead. An investigation revealed that Harrison had stabbed Rogers in the back twice.
