Rockford City Market institutes new safety rules

The Rockford City Market has had a record breaking year for attendance and is therefore enforcing some new rules to keep customers safe.

Almost 5,000 people visited the market on July 20, bringing total attendance to 28,568 so far this year. Since the market is being enjoyed by so many people, the following rules have been implemented in an effort to maintain safety:

  • No Pets - Effective August 17, no dogs or other pets will be permitted at the market for safety and sanitary reasons. Service animals will still be allowed.
  • No Solicitation - Soliciting or the circulation of petitions by political, religious, commercial, or other groups or individuals is no longer permitted on market grounds from noon to 9:00 p.m. on Fridays.
  • No Smoking - Smoking is not allowed within the market area.
  • No Bikes - Bikes are not allowed to be ridden in the market. They may, however, be parked on the perimeter or walked through the market.
  • Shoes and Shirts Required
