PRESS RELEASE:
The City of Rockford is providing additional clarification to residents and small businesses interested in participating in the City's electric aggregation program but already signed up with an alternate electricity supplier and not receiving their electric supply from ComEd.
These customers were excluded from the initial mailing and will not be automatically opted-in to the aggregation program. The City excluded these customers due to the potential these customers may suffer from for early termination fees or other penalties under the existing alternate supplier agreements.
If you are currently receiving electricity from an alternate supplier but want to switch to the City's aggregation program, the City recommends you take the following steps:
- Check the terms of your current supplier agreement to determine what, if any, penalties may exist.
- If you determine you still want to switch, contact FirstEnergy Solutions at 866-636-3749.
- Provide your contact information to FirstEnergy Solutions, and let them know that you would like to switch from your current supplier to the City's aggregation program.
- Once FirstEnergy has your information, they will notify ComEd of the switch and you will get a confirmation letter in the mail.
- We recommend that you follow up with your current supplier once you receive the confirmation letter from ComEd.
