UNDATED (WREX) -
SECOND UPDATE:
As of 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, approximately 600 customers in Winnebago and Boone Counties are still without power. Approximately 150 Rockford residents are still in the dark and so are a little over 30 in Roscoe.
ComEd still hopes to have everyone's power restored by Wednesday night or early Thursday.
To report an outage, call ComEd at 800-EDISON-1.
FIRST UPDATE:
As of 1:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, ComEd says 1,273 customers are still without power in Winnebago and Boone Counties. Rockford currently has 202 outages, Roscoe has 187, and Belvidere has 68. The rest of the outages are scattered throughout the area.
ComEd expects to have power restored for everyone by tomorrow at the latest. However, there is still a lot of damage in many areas and that is making power restoration difficult. Some isolated customers may not have power until Friday due to extra damage or repairs those customers need to make on their end.
PREVIOUSLY:
Power crews will spend another long day in the heat trying to restore power for people left in the dark after Tuesday morning's storms.
As of Wednesday morning, ComEd says it has 2,500 remaining outages in the Rockford/Belvidere area. A total of 34,000 customers lost power in the storms.
Because of the extensive damage to poles in the area, the outlook is to still have most of the power back on sometime Thursday, with remaining outages being restored on Friday.
Customers can text OUT to 26633 (COMED) to report their outage and get updates on the status of the restoration process in their area. You can also download ComEd's App on your smartphone, call 1-800-EDISON1 (1-800-334-7661), or visit ComEd.com to get and report outage information.
Rock Energy Cooperative is also busy restoring power to its customers. Most of the remaining outages they are handling are in South Beloit and Rockton. For more information visit www.rock.coop
