City of Rockford asks residents to voluntarily restrict watering - WREX.com – Rockford’s News Leader

Due to the current drought conditions, the City of Rockford is asking residents to voluntarily restrict their watering practices.

Groundwater levels in the aquifers used by Rockford for its water supply have dropped and if levels continue to drop, a watering ban may be necessary. However, in an effort to avoid a mandatory ban, the City is requesting that residents practice the following voluntary ban until further notice:

• Water customers are asked to water their lawns between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. or 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on every other day.
• Residents with even numbered addresses may water their lawns on even numbered calendar days
• Residents with odd numbered addresses may water their lawns on odd numbered calendar days
