Funeral set for Rockford soldier killed in Afghanistan


The family of a Rockford soldier killed in Afghanistan make arrangements to lay him to rest.

Sgt. Michael Ristau died last week.  He was in a vehicle that was attacked by an I.E.D.

Ristau's family will hold his funeral at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington Saturday, July 28th.  It's at 11:00am and the family welcomes anyone who wishes to attend.

Ristau earned several accolades during his time in the Army including a NATO Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.  He's survived by his wife and two sons.  A family spokesman says Ristau's parents live in Iowa and that he lived in Washington State with his wife and kids.  Ristau enlisted in the Army in Rockford back in 2004.
