ROCKFORD (WREX) -

A PRO/AM partnership with the United Way helps put books in the hands of preschoolers

The Rockford PRO/AM gave a grant to the Page Turner Reading Program. The program sends new books each month to kids in the Rockford area in order to improve literacy in the early stages of learning.

"Over 3,000 kids in our community receive new books every month. It's one book title a month and it's also framed around parent activities and teacher curriculum," said United Way Vice President Rodney Prunty

The grant totals $6,000.
