Rockford police investigate shots fired, find 5 year old girl shot

ROCKFORD (WREX) -

Around 9pm Rockford police officers responded to a shots fired call in the 1200 block of 12th Avenue. When they got there they found a car with it's window shot out and 5 year old girl who was shot through the arm. She was playing in a driveway during the shooting.

Officers found shell casings near the scene.

Police believe the suspect left their vehicle near 7st and 12th ave firing east bound at an unknown target. The suspect was last seen in a green-blue Dodge minivan. We'll bring you more details as they become available.
