A man who escaped from a Rock County jail and hid at a Rockford motel has been sentenced to six years in jail for unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.
Twenty-five year old Brandon Disrud was found by police at the Rockford Inn on June 8. Police had followed a tip regarding a subject who was wanted on several Illinois burglary warrants as well as an escape warrant out of Rock County, Wisconsin, to the motel. That subject was located in a room with Disrud and another man. All three were wanted for escape out of Rock County and were taken into custody.
While searching the room, officers recovered four handguns that had previously been reported stolen from a home in Genoa.
Disrud was eligible for Class X sentencing due to his prior criminal history.
