ATF billboards target Rockford gun crime

ROCKFORD (WREX) -

Billboards around Rockford from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) are encouraging residents to report gun crime.

The message asks residents to call 1-800-ATF-GUNS to report illegal firearms activity. The hotline is available 24 hours a day and callers may remain anonymous. Callers may also be eligible for a monetary award if the information leads to a successful prosecution, depending on the level of assistance.

The billboards were donated by Lamar Outdoor Advertising. More information on ATF can be found at www.atf.gov.
