Rockford Park District responds to grievance filed by former officer

A former Rockford Park Police Sergeant has filed a lawsuit against the Rockford Park District, claiming he was unlawfully terminated.

Richard Scot Nason claims his "whistle blowing" led to personnel changes within the Park Police department, including his own termination. The Park District, however, denies the claim, and claims to encourage all employees to report any "perceived problems or concerns, and no one is retaliated against for doing so."

Nason filed a lawsuit in Winnebago County Circuit Court on June 29.
