Charges upgraded in Rockford stabbing death

ROCKFORD (WREX) -

A man faces two counts of first degree murder charges after the woman police claim he stabbed, died.

Melvin Perkins, 30, was arrested for the stabbing of 21-year-old Sandra Golden. Golden was stabbed several times in the early morning hours of Thursday, July 5, at 510 North Horsman, and died late Friday evening.

Perkins was originally charged with attempted first degree murder, but his charges were upgraded on Monday evening.
