Fire damages 7 Janesville townhouses


A Sunday afternoon garage fire ended up damaging seven units in a Janesville townhouse building before being extinguished by firefighters.

The fire took place at 3202 Midvale Drive. Upon arrival, firefighters saw a large black column of smoke and fire spreading from a detached garage to the siding of the townhouse building. The building contained 16 units and the fire spread upward and into the attic of seven of the units before being contained by firefighters.

The seven damaged townhouses are no longer inhabitable and the residents are being assisted by the Red Cross.
