Safety Fest teaches families how to handle emergencies

Staying safe has never been this much fun.

Kids and parents check out Safety Fest. Where carnival rides and live entertainment aren't the only attractions. Fire trucks, digital fingerprints, and safety demonstrations provide lessons for a variety of situations .

"We had excellent opportunities to talk about staying safe on the Internet as well as with cell phones and texting. All of that kind of things," said prevention educator Jimmie Getter.

All the proceeds from Safety Fest go to Rockford sexual assault counseling
