Rockford Tea Party petition for concealed carry grows

The Rockford Tea Party has collected more than 4,000 signatures supporting concealed carry in Winnebago County.

That includes support from elected leaders in the area, both democrats and republicans. The group says Rockford Mayor Larry Morrissey, Winnebago County Chairman Scott Christiansen, and several aldermen are among those who've signed.

"We believe we have a consensus of people, not just at the grassroots level, but in elected office people understand that we have a God given right to defend ourselves," said Rockford Tea Party Coordinator David Hale.

The Rockford Tea Party's goal is to get a total of 10,000 signatures by the end of the month.
