A year-long streak for Rockford home sales has fallen apart.
New numbers for June from the Rockford Area Realtors show 347 home sales for June 2012, which is up slightly for May. However, those numbers are down 8.2 percent from June of last year, after 12 months in a row of year-to-year increases.
"It's a perfect storm in a lot of respects for buyers," Steve Bois, Rockford Area Realtors CEO, said. "We've been saying this for some time. There is a pent up demand out there, so that's starting to move. The fact that we're just a little bit lower, I don't think that's a major concern. If we have a good July, that will be really nice for us, but in general we're recovering.
Bois also said sales almost always drop from June to July, so these numbers were not surprising.
