UPDATED: Rockford Park District announces more cancellations due to heat

This week's sweltering heat is expected to continue over the next few days and the Rockford Park District is canceling some activities because of it.

The following changes have been announced:

Thursday, July 5:

  • Time 2 Play Summer Playground Program at Ridge Park, Churchill Park, Bloom School Park, Beattie Playground, Harmon Park, and Fair Grounds Park - Canceled
  • Time 2 Play Summer Playground Program at Keye-Mallquist and Wantz Parks - Closing at 1:00 p.m.
  • Teen Time Day Camp at ISC - Canceled
  • Teen Links Day Camp at ISC - Canceled
  • Paralympic Boccia - Practice Canceled
  • Trolley Car 36 Public Rides - Canceled
  • NFL Flag Football - Practices Canceled
  • NFL Cheer - Practices Canceled
  • Youth Tennis - Lessons Canceled
  • Therapeutic Recreation Program Music Club - Canceled

Friday, July 6:

  • Time 2 Play Summer Playground Program at Ridge Park, Churchill Park, Bloom School Park, Beattie Playground, Harmon Park, and Fair Grounds Park - Canceled
  • Time 2 Play Summer Playground Program at Keye-Mallquist and Wantz Parks - Closing at 1:00 p.m.

Saturday, July 7:

  • Lockwood Park Trail Rides - Canceled
  • Lockwood Park Pony Rides and Animal Barn - Canceled
