Rockford Park District cancels some activities due to heat

ROCKFORD (WREX) -

The Rockford Park District has canceled or reduced the hours of some activities and locations this week due to heat.

The following changes have been made:

Tuesday, July 3

  • NFL Flag Football - Canceled
  • NFL Cheer - Canceled

Thursday, July 5

  • Time 2 Play Summer Playground at Keye-Mallquist and Wantz Park - Closing at 1:00 p.m.
  • Teen Time Day Camp at ISC - Canceled
  • Teen Links Day Camp at ISC - Canceled
  • Paralympic Boccia - Practice canceled

Friday, July 6

  • Time 2 Play Summer Playground at Keye-Mallquist and Wantz Park - Closing at 1:00 p.m.

The Park District also offers options to stay cool such as skating at the Carlson Ice Arena and swimming at Magic Waters Waterpark and other local pools.
