The Winnebago County Sheriff's Office has issued restrictions for the Rock River that will take effect on the Fourth of July holiday.
A "No Wake Zone" will be put into effect at 6:00 p.m. from the Whitman Street Bridge south to the Fordam Dam until midnight. There will also be a "No Wake Zone" in effect at Shorewood Park beginning at that time and running until 9:00 p.m. for a Ski Broncs Show.
The Rock River will be "Closed" south of the Chestnut Street Bridge to the Fordam Dam and from the Morgan Street Bridge north to the Fordam Dam from 9:00 p.m. until the conclusion of the fireworks display. A "No Wake Zone" will also be in effect beginning at that time until midnight for the entire Rock River throughout Winnebago County north of the Whitman Street Bridge.
The Sheriff's Department will be patrolling the river throughout the day and patrons may get into contact with a Sheriff's Department boat by calling 815-262-1510. Service calls should made by calling 815-282-2600 and 911 should be called in case of an emergency.
