Boylan teacher heads to Washington, D.C.

A Boylan Catholic High School teacher spends part of her summer hitting the books.

Denise Ethun was picked from a pool of 300 applicants to participate in the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources Summer Teacher Institute.  This one runs the week of July 9th.

While Ethun is there, she'll work with Library educations specialists and subject matter experts to learn effective practices for using primary sources in the classroom.  She'll also find out how to explore some of the millions of historical artifacts and documents available on the Library of Congress website.  Educators attending the teacher institutes develop primary-source based teaching strategies that they can take back to their school districts, apply in the classroom and pass along to colleagues.

You may remember, Rockford's Marsh Elementary teacher Pam Miner.  She went on this trip earlier this month.
