Rockford, Loves Park, and Pecatonica have signed contracts for electrical aggregation in their jurisdictions.
The contracts were announced on Monday during the Finance and Personnel Committee meeting. The contracts were awarded to FirstEnergy Solutions of Akron, Ohio and will provide a fixed energy supply rate of 4.66 cents per kilowatt hour. That rate is fixed for two years and will provide 50 percent green energy. There is also a 100 percent green energy option for 4.72 cents per kilowatt hour.
According to 12 month consumption data in all three communities, the estimated total impact to eligible residents and businesses will be $19.7 million in money that can be spent elsewhere.

More information will be posted on www.rockfordil.gov and citizens will receive a letter from FirstEnergy Solutions within a few weeks informing them of their options.
