Rockford police have charged Tina LaMonica with first degree murder for the death of her seven-day-old baby.
On January 18th detectives responded to a death investigation at Rockford Memorial Hospital. They were met by hospital staff and were advised an infant had died.
The Winnebago County Coroner's office autopsy revealed the cause of death to be premature birth and maternal cocaine use.
On May 17th the State's Attorney's office charged LaMonica with first degree murder, made an arrest warrant, and set her bond at $1,000,000.00.
LaMonica was arrested June 23rd in Machesney Park.
