Overnight crime erupts in Rockford

Rockford police officers run on five shooting calls during the early morning hours Saturday.

The details of each case, as released by the Rockford Police Department, are listed below:

12:25 a.m.

Officer responded to this location for reports of 15-20 shots fired. Upon arrival, they located three vehicles that had been struck by gunfire. According to witnesses, two black males were refused entry into a club in the area. They went to their car and drove eastbound on Kent Street from the top of the hill, firing shots all the way to Main Street. The suspects fled in a dark colored full size GMC SUV.

1:19 a.m.

Officers responded to several reports of multiple shots fired in the area of 1300 South Court St and located shell casings in the street with a blood trail leading from the scene. At about the same time, the victim, a 33 year old Rockford man, arrived at a local hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to the hand. The victim stated he was walking alone through the area for no particular reason when a maroon or red Buick Rendezvous approached him. The unknown occupants of the vehicle fired several shots at him. He realized he was hit in the hand and was able to get a ride to the hospital.

2:12 a.m.

Officers responded to the area of 1400 Meadow Court for several reports of multiple shots fired. Upon arrival, they located a shooting scene including .45 caliber shell casings and blood. A witness told them the occupants of a silver Buick Regal 4dr with an unknown plate turned onto Meadow Court off Buckbee Street. They shot out a street light and shot at one of the RHA mounted cameras. They then drove down the street and shot several times into a one vehicle, which was hit four times. They continued and shot into another vehicle, which was occupied by the victims. The suspect vehicle then fled from the area. Shortly after the officers arrival, two shooting victims arrived at a local hospital – a 27 year old Rockford man, and a 42 year old Rockford man. The 27 year old was shot in the face, but it was a minor graze wound. The 42 was shot in the leg,a significant wound. All injuries were non-life-threatening.

2:13 a.m.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area. Upon arrival, they located a 29 year old Rockford man, who reported that he was walking near the intersection with his cousin a 19 year old Rockford man, when they were approached by 4 unknown black males who began shooting at them. They both fled in different directions. The initial complaint met with officers while his cousin continued to run from the area and he sought shelter in a local factory. The suspects only fired one round.

Suspect: B/M 20 years old, 509 170, wearing a white shirt with a red collar and jeans, armed with handgun

Suspect: B/M 16-18 years old, 505, 140, blk coat and jeans

The other two suspects were black males with unknown descriptions.

2:33 a.m.

While Officers were at a local on another shooting, a 20 year old Rockford man, arrived at the hospital and reported he had been shot in the 4400 block of Eastridge. He was suffering from a gunshot wound to the buttocks, a non-life threatening injury. Officer went to Eastridge and located a scene in a parking area where they found eight 9mm shell casings. The investigation revealed there was a family get together and the victim began arguing with his cousin. his cousin produced a firearm and shot the victim. The suspect fled from the area in a silver Chrysler 300 with stock rims.

Officers later located the vehicle and detained a suspect for questioning.
