Rockford Police looking for woman charged in infant's death

ROCKFORD (WREX) -

A woman Rockford Police say caused the death of her child due to maternal cocaine use is wanted on first degree murder charges.

Rockford Police responded to Rockford Memorial Hospital on January 18, 2011, in relation to the death of a 7-day-old infant. According to an autopsy carried out by the Winnebago County Coroner's Office, the infant died due to premature birth and maternal cocaine use.

Tina M. LaMonica, 37, of Rockford, has been charged with first degree murder. A warrant for her arrest has been obtained with bond set at $1,000,000.

Rockford Police are urging anyone with information on her whereabouts to call Police at 815-987-5824 or Crime Stoppers at 815-963-7867.
