The Rockford Public School Board voted Tuesday night to extend the interim superintendent's contract.
Dr. Robert Willis' current contract expires in June. That deal paid $185,000. His extended contract goes through Next school and pays $225,000 for the year. He'll have to pay $15,000 to use the district's health insurance for himself and his wife.
The board voted 5-1 to offer the contract. "He did really good so the board decided to reward him with an extension to his contract, which buys us a little time with our ongoing search for the right superintendent."
The search for a permanent superintendent will start later this year. Dr. Willis is expected to help.
