Some ballots causing problems in Winnebago County

Posted: Updated:
WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WREX) -

The Winnebago County Clerk's Office found an issue with some of its ballots during Tuesday's Illinois Primary Election.

The ballots are too large for the scanning machines. That error will not allow for electronic counting by the machines at the polling places. The issue will not affect anyone's ability to vote. If you have voted already today, or voted early, your vote will still count. The County Clerk says all ballots will be tabulated and counted.

The ballot problem is a vendor error. The vendor that sent out the cards admitted it has made the same mistake with several counties throughout Illinois.

Both the Republican and Democratic Party Chairmen have been contacted about the issue.
