Rochelle man found dead at White Pines State Park

A Rochelle man who went missing after an argument with friends was found dead.

Joseph A. Large, 24, was found dead on Sunday. Large was having a picnic at the park with friends when they had a verbal disagreement. Afterward, Large left the picnic area and walked toward the north end of the park along Pine Creek. Friends later located Large in the creek.

During an investigation by Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies, an area along some rock cliffs next to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad showed evidence that Large lost his footing and fell into the water.

An autopsy will be conducted on Tuesday.

Large's death comes just over two weeks after Illinois Wesleyan student Brandon Landau was also found dead in Pine Creek.
