Settlement reached involving South Beloit stun gun claims
A settlement puts to rest claims against the City of South Beloit. Veronica McIntyre filed a lawsuit against the city after video from a security camera showed police using a stun gun on her and grabbing her by the neck. The incident happened in 2008 when McIntyre was arrested.
The city agree to pay her $75,000. In exchange for the money, McIntyre agreed to dismiss all claims. South Beloit Officials denied any wrongdoing in the written agreement. Both parties are responsible for their own legal fees.
