ROCKFORD (WREX) -
Dodge pick-up trucks are being targeted on the city's east central and south east sides.
Since mid-December there have been 12 Dodge pick-up trucks stolen in those areas. The thefts have occurred during overnight hours, but not on any specific days of the week. The trucks have been taken from residential driveways and parking lots. Most of the vehicles were locked and the steering columns were peeled.
Most of the trucks were found in the neighborhoods or parking lots south of Harrison Avenue.
Police are urging residents who see an unfamiliar Dodge pick-up truck abandoned in their neighborhoods to contact the police department.
