Only one person on the Belvidere Board of Education voted in favor of a plan to change school start times.
The vote Tuesday night was 5-1 to keep start times the same for next year. The district did an online survey and found that people were split down the middle on the idea.
The five members of the board who voted against the proposed changes said they didn't think it was right to ask families to adjust their work schedules or pay more for childcare given the current economic challenges.
