Kids test out a career possibility by playing around.
The Discovery Center hosted its annual Discover Engineering event. Engineers from local companies set up displays in the museum to show off some of their work. Kids could play with catapults, small helicopters and other fun devices. Organizers say it's a great way to introduce young minds to a career they may pursue one day.
"It helps to show what kind of things engineers do, what kind of things are out there for them to learn," said Illinois Society of Professional Engineers member Doug Waldeier. "It also...may spark an interest for them to want to do something involved with engineering."
The event is in connection with National Engineers Week
