Rockford man found guilty in weapons case

A Rockford man was found guilty Friday in the case of a 2010 shooting.

Earl Boyd was found guilty of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Weapons by a Felon. On August 23, 2010, police were called to the 100 block of Day Avenue in reference to a shooting. A Pontiac Grand AM had been hit three times by gunfire and the front door of a house was hit twice. Witnesses saw Boyd heading in the direction of the house in question with a gun that evening.

Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm is a Class 1 Felony with a penalty range of 4 to 15 years. Unlawful Possession of Weapons by a Felon is a Class 2 Felony that could result in a sentence of 3 to 14 years.

Boyd is set to be sentenced Monday, March 19.
