ROCKFORD (WREX) -

Local business leaders say Chrysler bringing more jobs to Belvidere will benefit a lot more than just Boone County.

They say it will mean more workers and a boost for Rockford's economy.

RAEDC President Jancye Fadden says almost two thirds of people working in Belvidere's Chrysler plant, live in Winnebago County and when those jobs grow we'll see more income spent here in Rockford.

Fadden says we can expect job growth here in Rockford for companies that support Chrysler she says for every job new at the plant four to eight jobs will be created.

"We'll also see some housing because people are getting the types of jobs they'll be able to afford a house, they'll be able to afford a mortgage. I think good things happen when high paying jobs like Chrysler come into our community," said Fadden.

Rockford Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Einar Forsman believes we can expect to see a direct dollar impact in Rockford's economy when those new incomes are spent here.

They both agree job growth has more benefits for the entire community outside of just dollars being spent.

"That's gonna boost spending boost other jobs in our community. That gain in employment is going to boost our unemployment which will help us attract other businesses here," said Forsman.

In addition to more jobs they say you can expect to see more businesses grow to meet the demands of the growing workforce in Boone and Winnebago counties.
