ROCKFORD (WREX) - A new program reaches out to women going through radiation and chemo treatments for cancer. It's called Look Good…Feel Better®.
It's a free session to learn how to look your best as your appearance changes during those treatments, through the American Cancer Society, National Cosmetology Association, and the Personal Care Products Council Foundation.
"These are very practical things, but it's also a nice experience for ladies to come and find the support of the volunteer cosmetologist and other patients who are going through what they are going through," explained Heather Higgins, Health Initiative Manager for the American Cancer Society.
There's still time to register for the next Look Good…Feel Better session, which is being held Thursday, February 9, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the YWCA, located at 4990 East State Street in Rockford. This program will also be offered at Healing Pathways located inside the West Minster Presbyterian Church from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on March 1, 2012. Healing Pathways is located at 2821 N. Bell School Road. This program is also offered in Stephenson, Whiteside, Lee, and Bureau counties.
To register, or for additional information, call Rachel Robinson at the American Cancer Society at (815) 229-1287.
