ROCKFORD (WREX)

Herb Rosborough II was planning to go on his third trip to Nairobi, Kenya, when he died after a heart attack on December 7th.

His son, Herb Rosborough III will go for him.

"It was always a goal of both my mom and my father to retire into this project," said Rosborough III about the missionary work his parents had done in Kenya.  "This is where there hearts were. They really loved it. So it's certainly going to be an emotional time but it's time that I'll never forget."

Rosborough III has children of his own and is a carpenter by trade.  He's on his way to Kenya to help complete construction on a building for a girl's orphanage.  The building will be a living complex for people from the nearby slums of Nairobi.  Rosborough II helped scout the land that it's being built on.  Both he and Rosborough III's mother, Debbie, traveled there before.

"He loved the kids," said Debbie Rosborough, speaking of her husband Rosborough II.  "The kids just hold you and hug you, they love you they're just starved for love. I mean who in the world can resist that?"

Carrying on his father's legacy, Rosborough III will go with a team of volunteers from First Love International Ministries.  His uncle founded the organization. Rosborough won't be the only family member going on the trip.  In addition to a second uncle,  he'll bring his father's ashes along to be spread in the country that meant so much to him.

"I'm so proud of my son," said Debbie Rosborough.  "He's picking up where his dad left off. I really believe that. He's got a tender heart and he loves the Lord."

And Rosborough III is proud to carry on his father's legacy of faith in God, and love for humanity.

"To be able to go in such a way that I can honor my father for the life that he lived and the service that he did for the Kingdom of God is going to be an experience that I will never forget," he said.

Rosborough III and the team leave for the trip on January 28th and will return on February 11th.  The living complex still needs additional funds to be completed.  Anyone interested in donating to the cause can go to www.firstloveinternational.com.
