UPDATE: Suspicious death investigated in Rock Falls

Investigators in Whiteside County are trying to determine how a 34-year-old Rock Falls man ended up dead in the backyard of an apartment complex.

George Chavarria was found by his employer Thursday around 2:00 p.m. behind the building at 1203 Dixon Avenue in Rock Falls. The employer became concerned after Chavarria had not shown up for work.

The Illinois State Police Crime Scene unit is working with the Rock Falls Police Department and the Whiteside County Corners office on the case. It's being handled as a suspicious death until an exact cause of death can be determined. An autopsy is scheduled for later today.
