Local nurses help the homeless

If taking care of patients isn't enough, a group of local nurses help care for the homeless by giving them a meal.

The Northern Illinois Chapter of American Association of Critical Care Nurses held it's annual Feed The Homeless Day. The organization worked with 35 other businesses to give lunch to the needy at sheltered care ministries. Some of the nurses feel this type of care is needed during the cold months.

"It's nice to be able to let them in a little bit early, out of the cold weather, to give them a nice hot meal, to give them a conversation, offer them an extra dessert, give them the company that maybe they don't get any other time of the year," said registered nurse Beverly Ethridge.

The NIAACN has done this since 2004.
