ROCKFORD (WREX) -
Belvidere Police Officer Michelle Wilgus is now Super Bowl bound.
Since the first time we brought you this story Officer Wilgus has gotten engaged watched her Packers win the top seed in the NFC and now she's heading to the Super Bowl in Indianapolis.
Officer Wilgus used the power of email chains, social networks, and fellow Packers fans to get the votes necessary to win.
"When this competition started I had 280 Facebook friends and I ended up with 2,900 Facebook friends and the majority of them were Packer fans," said Wilgus.
Her fiance, who's a Bears fan, says he won't mind seeing the Packers in the big game if they make it.
"I'm a fan of good football and the packers are playing really good football, so yeah I'll root for them," said Schwartz.
Her friends packed the Hoffman house to celebrate and they say if anyone should go it's Wilgus.
"I think it's so great, she works hard for a living and I think she really really deserves this," said Missy Robertson.
Wilgus is excited for all the activities they get to do Super Bowl week.
"I get to do NFL experience, tour the stadium, tour the NBC booth and hopefully meet Chris Collinsworth," said Wilgus.
Her fiance says they don't know their itinerary yet, but he knows they'll have a good time.
"Play it by ear and enjoy each other and the game," said Schwartz.
Now those packers are the NFC's number one seed and will have a home field advantage throughout the playoffs. They'll take on the winner of the wild card game between Atlanta and New York.
